Stacy has recently finished a first novel, set in the Balkans. She received a 2011 Leslie Epstein Global Fellowship from Boston University to travel to the region and research the book, which centers on a complex, long-lived friendship between two women -- one American, one Croatian -- in present-day Sarajevo.
Stacy has worked as a coauthor on books including, with Ashley Smith, the New York Times bestseller Unlikely Angel. A feature film, Captive, based on the book was released in 2015 by Paramount Pictures, starring David Oyelowo (Selma) and Kate Mara (House of Cards). Smith was held hostage in her apartment in 2005 by Atlanta courthouse shooter Brian Nichols. She persuaded him to surrender to authorities.
Unlikely Angel was a Readers’ Digest Editors’ Choice book and a finalist for the Georgia Writers Association Author-of-the-Year Award in memoir, both in 2005.
The book has been re-released by William Morrow Paperbacks under the film title, Captive.
